Indoor vines that grow in water tend to be low maintenance. As long as you keep them away from direct sunlight and heat they will thrive in water. Most of the vines that grow in water require a minimum temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

String of Hearts

Botanical Name: Ceropegia

String of hearts are easy to grow and maintain. Their heart-shaped leaves with white patterns do best in bright, indirect sunlight. The size of the plants can vary between 1ft to 3ft tall. They're low maintenance as well since they can thrive on water alone, provided you change it every 7-10 days. The trick is to attach the string of hearts onto a fishing line (can be found at REI). You will need fishing weights(can also be found at REI) and some super glue to hold the string down into the soil.

They can live for 2 to 3 years, provided you take proper care of them. I've been growing them for about two years now and I love how their leaves keep growing new shoots and forming more heart shapes.

Pothos

Botanical Name: Epipremnum aureum

Pothos is often confused with philodendron, which is another popular houseplant with beautiful heart-shaped foliage. All it needs is a warm spot with bright indirect light. Pothos stems are smooth and greenish-white, and the leaves are emerald green, variegated with yellow splotches or streaks.

Pothos is a fast grower, so you should trim it back often to keep the plant from falling apart at the base. Flowers in white, yellow or purple grow on separate vines that need to be cut off when they start to bloom because they'll distract from the foliage.

Pothos isn't really suited for outdoor cultivation unless you live in a very warm climate with high humidity. A big pothos vine can get out of control quickly if you're not careful. Plus it has a tendency to drop its leaves when it's stressed, and that's hard to avoid if you move it around too much.

If you have pets or children who like to play on the floor, pothos isn't a good choice unless you're vigilant about keeping them away from this plant. The sap can irritate skin and sometimes even trigger allergic reactions in sensitive people. You also have to be careful not to overwater

Rex Begonia Vine

Botanical Name: Cissus javana

Rex Begonia Vine, also called Cissus javana, is a member of the grape family, so it can be grown in greenhouses as well as outdoors. It is a very easy plant to care for.

It prefers living indoors if you want to grow it from seed. If you have a greenhouse, you can plant it there, and if you don't have a greenhouse, then grow it outside in the ground. If you are growing this plant inside your home or greenhouse, then it will need to be kept at temperatures between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Treat this plant as a vine because that is what it will become when planted outside. When growing Rex Begonia Vine indoors, use an opaque pot and keep the soil moist when watering. Outdoors, this plant needs an abundance of water and plenty of sun. It will grow in partial shade but won't be able to flower as much if that is all the light it receives. Water this plant regularly and fertilize it every two weeks with a general-purpose liquid fertilizer that is high in nitrogen and phosphorous. Fertilize plants once the soil has warmed to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Inch Plant

Botanical Name: Tradescantia zebrina

The inch plant is a very interesting, low-maintenance specimen. It has a striped leaf pattern that resembles its namesake and is a great addition for any home or office. The plant has trailing stems, which are easy to shape and will attach themselves to just about anything.

TIP: If you want your inch plant to grow more upright, it's best to trim the stem's tip and plant the stem in water instead of soil.

The adult plants can reach up to two feet in height, however, they can easily be trimmed and trained into smaller sizes.

Cebu Blue Pothos

Botanical Name: Epipremnum pinnatum

Cebu Blue Pothos is a great choice for both beginners and experienced gardeners. It's easy to grow and maintain, making it a favorite of those with little time to spare but plenty of love to give.

The Cebu Blue Pothos has long, trailing stems that are green with lush, dark blue leaves. The leaves are variegated or marbled, lending the entire plant a striking appearance. In addition to its looks, the Cebu Blue Pothos is extremely hardy. It can flourish in extreme neglect -- just give it good light, keep the soil moist and you're good to go!

It's important to remember that this plant is poisonous if ingested by humans and animals alike. Be sure not to leave these plants out where pets or children can get their hands on them.
