Hoya

Botanical Name: Hoya

Hoyas prefer well-drained soil that is acid to neutral in pH. They like a sunny location but can tolerate some shade. The flowers can be cut for dried flower arrangements.

Hoyas are easy to grow from seed or cuttings. Hoya carnosa Rubra aka ‘Krimson Princess’, Hoya obovata, Hoya retusa are the best fragrant ones.

Lavender

Jasmine

Paperwhite Narcissus

Narcissus papyraceus is in the Liliaceae family, the same family as the tulip and daffodil. The plant has 2-3 inch long papery white, trumpet-shaped flowers, fading to pale green, in flat, nodding clusters.

 The flowers appear early in the spring and last for weeks. The bulbs grow 4-5 inches tall and up to 3 inches wide. They prefer rich, moist soil and grow best in partial shade or in a sunny spot with morning sun and afternoon shade.

African Gardenia

Botanical Name: Mitriostigma axillare

The African Gardenia (Mitraostigma axillare) is a vigorous, evergreen, woody climber growing to 15 feet. It is grown for its large, funnel-shaped, white flowers, which bloom throughout the year.

Gardenias were once a popular ornamental in Victorian era gardens, and are still grown for their fragrance, which perfumes the air in shades of damask rose, pear, and jasmine.

The gardenia likes a slightly acidic soil, and does well against fences and trellis. African Gardenias bloom for the plant's entire life, and do not require pruning.
